How we help you choose

Health insurance is easy to get wrong: a low premium can hide a high deductible, and a plan can look perfect until your doctor isn't in the network. Your advisor walks you through the numbers that matter before you enroll:

  • Monthly premium and annual deductible
  • Out-of-pocket maximum and copays
  • Whether your doctors, hospitals, and prescriptions are covered
  • Whether you qualify for Marketplace savings

Our help is free. Agents are paid by the insurance companies, so your premium is the same as buying direct.

FAQ

Health insurance questions

What is a private PPO health plan?

A private PPO is health insurance sold directly by an insurance company outside the ACA Marketplace. Many offer nationwide doctor networks and can be applied for any time of year, though eligibility and pricing usually depend on a health questionnaire.

When is open enrollment for Marketplace health insurance?

ACA Marketplace open enrollment typically runs from November 1 to January 15 on HealthCare.gov. Outside that window you need a qualifying life event, such as losing other coverage, moving, marriage, or having a baby.

Can I keep my doctor?

We check your doctors and prescriptions against each plan's network and drug list before you choose, so you know ahead of time.

I'm self-employed. What are my options?

Self-employed people can choose from Marketplace plans, which may qualify for tax credits based on income, and private PPO plans. We'll compare both for you.

Important plan information

  • Not every plan is ACA-qualified. Some private PPO, short-term, fixed-indemnity and supplemental plans are not ACA-qualified health plans. They may not cover pre-existing conditions or all essential health benefits, may have benefit limits, and may require answering health questions to qualify.
  • Supplemental plans add to major medical coverage. Dental, vision, accident and hospital indemnity plans are not a replacement for comprehensive health insurance.
  • Your policy documents control. Coverage, exclusions, limitations and costs are set by the insurance company in your policy. We will review these with you before you apply.
  • Marketplace plans. Our agents are registered with the federal Health Insurance Marketplace (CMS) and can help you apply, check if you qualify for savings, and enroll. You can also apply on your own at HealthCare.gov or your state's exchange. We are a private agency, not the Marketplace or a government website.
